Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition -
jux·ta·po·si·tion
noun
an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.

There is something beautiful to me about juxtaposition.  Not only in art, or photography, but in many aspects of life. For example, two people that don't seem to fit together that make a beautiful combination. Or clothes that surprise you when they are paired. Or even something as simple as a flower planted in a cinder block.
This kind of beauty draws me in and keeps me at a loss for words. This fascination allows me to find joy in unusual and simple places and it keeps my days lovely.
The pictures shown are very different from each other. But both are beautiful (to these beholding eyes). Not only are they different from each other, but they host juxtaposition even within their frames.
I know this is cheesy, but really, take just a minute each day to appreciate the beauty of something or someone. You might just notice your days being a little brighter.

  1. The tree picture is from my first night in Chicago. And the flower is from my backyard.
